Bhuvneshwar Kumar was first drafted in the IPL 2009 season by RCB and he was retained for another season. Although he was retained he didn’t feature in the playing XI. In the 2011 IPL season Pune Warriors India showed faith in the young fast bowler and signed him. Bhuvneshwar Kumar made his IPL debut against Kings XI Punjab. In 2012, he continued with Pune Warriors playing 11 matches and taking eight wickets. He played for the Pune Warriors in the 2013 IPL and took 13 wickets in 16 matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him for the 2014 IPL season.
Moreover, Bhuvneshwar Kumar developed as a player in international and IPL cricket since SRH signed him in the 2014 IPL season. He took 20 wickets across 14 matches with an average of 17.70 and a strike rate of 15.95. He performed continuously well for SRH by picking up crucial wickets in powerplay and bowling economical spells in death overs. Bhuvi Kumar is the only player to win the purple cap consecutively and twice in IPL. He won his first IPL Purple Cap in 2016 taking 23 wickets in 17 matches with an average of 21.30 and a strike rate of 17.21. Additionally, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 26 wickets in 14 matches, including his first five-wicket haul (5/19), and emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar experienced a downfall in the 2020 and 2021 IPL seasons. He took only three wickets in four matches and missed the remaining 2020 IPL season due to injury. In 2021, Bhuvneshwar only managed to take six wickets from 11 matches. He showed improved performances in the 2022 and 2023 IPL seasons picking up 12 and 16 wickets respectively maintaining a good average and strike rate. Since Bhuvi has been missing from International cricket for a while, it will be interesting to see how Bhuvneshwar Kumar will perform in order to get his name back in India’s squad.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was first picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009 for ₹6.00 lakh. He remained with the team for two seasons. Pune Warriors then acquired him in 2012 for ₹20.00 lakh, where he played for two more seasons at the same price. In the 2014 IPL season Bhuvneshwar Kumar was signed by SRH for ₹ 4.20 crore. Bhuvneshwar Kumar IPL salary was same until the 2017 IPL season. His impressive performance led to a significant increase in his IPL salary to ₹8.50 crore.
