Faf Du Plessis emerged as one of the most consistent batsmen for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. His calm and composed approach on the ground stands out from other cricketers. Even before he became a regular for South Africa, Faf had managed to be a trusted figure in the CSK dug-out. CSK management were aware of his extraordinary ability to turn the game around in times of crisis. The 2018 season is one such example when he rescued the side from elimination in Qualifier 1.
In the 2021 IPL Du Plessis displayed his master-class for CSK, where he scored 633 runs including 6 fifties in that tournament. Since then Du Plessis has been considered an asset for CSK. Time changes and Faf’s potential is now sucked by RCB management, RCB bought Faf as Captain of their side in a Mega-auction. Faf du Plessis IPL Salary
As a youngster with only playing a handful of matches for South Africa, Faf Du Plessis earned his first IPL contract in 2011. Faf Du Plessis started his journey in the IPL with CSK where he earned a decent amount of ₹55.2 lakhs. His value increased as time passed, at the 2014 mega-auction his salary went up to ₹4.75 crores retained back by the CSK management. Due to the ban on CSK, Du Plessis moved to a new team called Rising Pune Super Giants. His salary for the year 2016 was ₹4.75 crores later it decreased to ₹4 crores in the year 2017. However, the same mega auction in 2018 demoted his salary to ₹1.6 crores, when CSK bought back their star player. Faf returned to CSK in 2018, after playing for Rising Pune Supergiants during their ban period.
Later his fortunes returned, and his contract got an upgrade in the 2022 Auction when RCB bought Faf Du Plessis for ₹7 crores. The sole purpose of RCB buying Faf Du Plessis was to hand over the Captaincy to an experienced campaigner. RCB management has retained their Captain for the 2024 IPL after witnessing his incredible captaincy over the years.
