Jason Roy, a hard-hitting opening batsman, was first picked by Gujarat Lions in 2017 IPL season. he scored 59 runs in three matches. In 2018, he joined Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and showed glimpses of his potential, scoring 120 runs in five matches which includes an unbeaten 91 against Mumbai Indians, an innings laced with six sixes and fours each. However, prioritizing the World Cup, Jason Roy opted out of the IPL in 2019.
He returned to the tournament in 2020 with Delhi Capitals but didn’t get a game. Released by them in 2021, he found some success with Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 150 runs in five innings. Although released again in 2022 after the mega auction, Gujarat Titans picked him up, only for Roy to withdraw due to bio-bubble fatigue. Finally, Kolkata Knight Riders drafted him in the 2023 IPL auction. This proved to be his most successful IPL season yet, scoring 285 runs in eight matches at an average of 35.63 and a healthy strike rate of 151.60, including two half-centuries. He’ll undoubtedly be looking to continue this form for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Jason Roy’s IPL journey began with the Gujarat Lions in 2017, who acquired him for INR 1 crore.
