The Afghan spin prodigy, impressed the cricket world with his skills at a very tender age in the U-19 ODI world cup. Then in international cricket Partnering with Rashid Khan, he became a consistent wicket-taker for Afghanistan. Mujeeb ur Rahman performances were noticed by the IPL scouts and he earned a spot in Kings XI Punjab squad (now Punjab Kings) in the 2018 IPL for INR 4 crore.
Mujeeb’s IPL debut against Delhi Capitals was memorable, taking key wickets and effecting a run-out. He bagged 14 wickets in 11 matches but had fewer opportunities the following season. He became the first player born in the 21st century to play a Test match in 2018 against India.
Retained by Kings XI Punjab for 2 seasons, Mujeeb was later acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2021 IPL auction. He played only one match for them. Recently purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders, an injury will likely sideline him for the 2024 IPL season.

At a young age, Mujeeb Ur Rahman made a splash in the IPL when Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) picked him up for a hefty INR 4.00 crore in the 2018 auction. This marked the beginning of his fluctuating Mujeeb ur Rahman IPL salary. He was retained by Kings XI Punjab for the 2019 and 2020 seasons, maintaining his salary.
However, they released him before the 2021 auction, where Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired him for a more modest INR 1.50 crore. Sunrisers Hyderabad then maintained Mujeeb ur Rahman IPL salary at INR 1.50 crore for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Finally, Kolkata Knight Riders secured his services for the 2024 season at an increased to INR 2.00 crore.
