Nathan Ellis first appeared in IPL as a replacement for Riley Meredith in 2021 IPL. Nathan made his debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He played three matches in the season and took only a single wicket with an average of 98.00 and a strike rate of 72.00. Ellis has scalped 17 wickets from 15 matches so far in the IPL with an average of 28.94 and a strike rate of 19.76. His best bowling figure is 4/30 which came against Rajasthan Royals taking big wickets of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson.
Punjab Kings added Ellis to their squad as a replacement for the fellow Australian, Riley Meredith in the 2021 IPL season. A year later Punjab Kings signed Nathan Ellis for a hefty amount of INR 7.5 crores in the 2022 IPL auction. They then retained Nathan Ellis for the same IPL salary in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
