Shardul Thakur hails from Palgarh, Maharashtra who has made a name for himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler and a right-handed batsman. Thakur made his IPL debut in 2015 playing for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). Throughout his IPL career Thakur has represented many other franchises like Pune, Kolkata, and Delhi.
However, it was with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) that he gained significant recognition. Thakur has been a key player for CSK with his ability to pick up wickets at crucial moments and contribute with the bat when needed. Known for his deceptive variations and ability to generate pace, he has been a valuable asset to the CSK bowling attack.
In addition to his bowling skills, Thakur has also showcased his batting prowess on several occasions. He often playing crucial cameos down the order to help his team’s cause. Shardul Thakur IPL Salary
Shardul Thakur started his IPL journey with Punjab Kings in the year 2014, PBKS bought him for his base price (20 Lakhs). Punjab retained Shardul for three straight years, whereas he played only 1 match for the team. In the 2017 auction, Rising Pune Super Giants drafted Shardul Thakur to their team for 20 Lakhs. Shardul displayed a notable performance that year for Pune, he played 12 matches and picked 11 wickets in that season. After the exit of the Pune franchise, MS Dhoni brought back Shardul to the Chennai side for 2.6 Crores through the 2018 mega auction.
Shardul had an excellent debut season for Chennai and that helped him to make a name for himself. Apparently, CSK retained the bowling all-rounder for another three years. CSK was compelled to release Shardul ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega auction, unfortunately, CSK couldn’t get back their star performer. However, Shardul received a huge raise in his pay after Delhi Capitals bought him for 10.75 Crores in the 2021 auction. Later, Shardul Thakur was traded from the Delhi Capitals by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2023. Kolkata released the all-rounder after a moderate performance in the 2023 IPL season. This time Chennai bought their star performer back for 4 Crores in the 2024 IPL player auction.
