Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set now. League phase was full tight matches and proper competition. India finished Group A on top with 4 wins out of 4, no mistakes at all. Pakistan also confirmed their spot with a strong 102-run win over Namibia in the last game.
From Group B, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe qualified. Australia missed out after Zimbabwe’s match against Ireland was washed out, and those extra points helped Zimbabwe go through. In Group C, England and West Indies finished as the top teams. From Group D, South Africa and New Zealand secured the first two spots. Now these eight teams will be divided into two Super 8 groups, and top two from each group will go to the semi-finals.
Group 1 will have India, Zimbabwe, West Indies and South Africa. That group looks very competitive with strong batting and quality pace attacks. Group 2 will have Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England and New Zealand. That’s also a tight group with experienced sides who know how to handle pressure matches.
Top two teams from each group will move into the semi-finals, so every game from here is must-win type. No easy matches, no second chances. Real tournament starts now.
2028 Qualification Confirmed as Super 8 Teams Secure Spots
All Super Eight teams have secured automatic qualification for the 2028 T20 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Australia and New Zealand qualified as co-hosts. The next three highest-ranked teams in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings as of March 9 are expected to be Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Ireland, completing the 12 automatic spots. The remaining eight teams will qualify through regional pathways.
