The stage is ready for one of the biggest celebrations in women’s cricket. The Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati will host the grand opening ceremony of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 on September 30. The event will be packed with music, dance and cricket fun giving fans an unforgettable experience. This year, the ceremony is even more special because it will honor the late Zubeen Garg, a popular singer from Assam. Famous Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal and other talented performers will be there, showing the culture of Northeast India while celebrating women’s cricket.
Famous artists from the state, including Angarag Papon Mahanta, Joi Barua, and the Shillong Chamber Choir, will perform a special musical tribute, according to Assam Cricket Association (ACA) officials quoted by PTI. This 40-minute presentation will be part of the opening ceremony and will honor the late Zubeen Garg.
The Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) will give out free tickets on behalf of the ACA. Fans can collect them from the GSA office at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati starting at 10 am on Monday. “To celebrate unity through sport and culture and to encourage everyone to join this global event, we are giving 5,000 free tickets to Zubeen Garg fans for the inaugural match,” official said.
