Gujarat Titans (GT) have announced the list of players they retain and released ahead of 2026 IPL mini auction. IPL had earlier set November 15 as the deadline for the all franchises to submit their list of retained and released players. Before the IPL 2026 Retention Day, Gujarat Titans (GT) were making the headlines as it was reported that they held discussions with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) of trading a young spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar.
It was later stated that Gujarat Titans (GT) had rejected Chennai Super Kings (CSK) request to trade Washington Sundar and hence retained him in their squad. They did make one trade before the auction, Sherfane Rutherford going to Mumbai Indians (MI) for INR 2.6 crore. The team also let go of Dasun Shanaka, Mahipal Lomror, Karim Janat, Gerald Coetzee and Kulwant Khejroliya while keeping most of their core players intact.
Gujarat Titans Impressive League Run Ends in Eliminator Loss
Gujarat Titans performed well throughout the league, finishing with 9 wins and 5 losses to reach the playoffs. Unfortunately, their campaign ended in the Eliminator 1 T20, where they lost to Mumbai Indians by 20 runs at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Mohali, Chandigarh.
Gujarat Titans’ Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki, said the team focused on keeping balance and continuity in the squad. He added that the retained players bring experience, potential, and character to the team.“Our strategy was to retain a core that aligns with the long-term vision of Gujarat Titans. We want continuity, balance and a strong pipeline that adds to Indian cricket’s future. We thank the released players for their contributions and wish them the best for what comes next.”
Head coach Ashish Nehra said retention was aimed at giving the squad stability for the upcoming season. Both also thanked the released players and wished them well for the future.
