Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium is located in Rambagh circle, Jaipur. The foundation was laid during the sovereignty of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II, hence the name of the stadium. This princely SMS stadium is established in the year 1969 with a total seating capacity of 30000. The wide stadium is owned by Rajasthan State Sports Council and managed by Rajasthan Cricket Association. This notable stadium is the home ground for Rajasthan Royals team of IPL. This iconic ground has the pride to begin the most victorious opening pair of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar for the first time.

The first and only test match witnessed by SMS is between India and Pakistan in February 1987. This test match was ended in a draw due to heavy rain happened on the third day of the match and huge raise of sawdust on the wicket lead to quitting the game. The first ODI happened in SMS is also between India and Pakistan in October 1983. The various strands of SMS are named after famous international cricketers and Rajasthan Royals team players to felicitate their achievements. They have named after Rahul Dravid(India), Dinesh Salunke, Kevon Cooper, Munaf Patel, Naman Ojha, Shane Warne, Graeme Smith, Brad Hodge and Pravin Tambe.
