India Preview
India head into this contest on the back off a hard fought 41 run victory over Bangladesh in their second super four match on Wednesday. Batting first India posted 168/6 on the back off Abhishek Sharma’s blitz with the bat (75 runs in 37 balls) and Shubman Gill’s elegant cameo (29 runs in 19 balls). Hardik Pandya provided the fireworks in the death overs adding 38 runs in 29 balls.
The Indian bowlers then bowled out Bangladesh to 127 runs in 19.3 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/18, while Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets each.
Though India remain undefeated in the tournament, there are some real concerns with their middle order especially the form of Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube. While Bumrah has made a comeback after being battered by Pakistan. It will be interesting to see if they bring in Arshdeep Singh and Harshith Rana for this clash.
Sri Lanka Preview
Sri Lanka are eliminated from the tournament after their abmysal performance against Pakistan with the bat in a must win game. Batting first Sri Lanka managed to score 133/8 on the back of Kamindu Mendis’ valiant half century while other batters struggled to get going. Asalanka (20 runs) and Wanindu Hasaranga (17 runs) got off to good starts but couldn’t quite convert into big knocks.
In the bowling department Maheesh Theekshana on his return picked up 2 wickets against Pakistan, while Hasaranga continued his good run of form with the ball adding another two wickets to his tally.
Sri Lanka might make a couple of changes in this fixture against India, Kamil Mishra, Dunith Wellalage could well find a spot in the playing XI. Chameera might be rested and Matheesha Pathirana could get a go against India.
