The list of players for the WPL 2026 has been released, 277 cricketers ready to compete for 73 spots in the auction on November 27 in New Delhi. This is proof that the league is growing rapidly the number of players more than doubled from last year’s 120.

Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh (India), Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr (New Zealand), Sophie Ecclestone (England), Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning (Australia) and Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa) are the eight marquee players are the top tier of the WPL 2026 line-up.
This year, 194 Indian cricketers (52 capped and 142 uncapped) will be part of the big battle for a place in one of the eight teams besides going under the hammer to earn a team contract while only 50 spots from the list of 73 are open through bids, while 83 overseas players (66 capped and 17 uncapped) vie for the remaining 23. With most teams keeping their core squads, the auction will be key for fixing gaps, rebuilding and finding impact players ahead of the 2026 season.

RTM (Right to Match) – How It Works
RTM allows teams to buy back a player they released by matching the highest bid just before the auction hammer falls. Only players who were part of that franchise’s WPL 2025 squad and are in the 2026 auction pool are eligible for RTM. Each team can use a maximum of five RTMs, but this number is reduced by the players they retained before the auction.
RTM can be used for both Indian and overseas players, as long as the team stays within squad and composition limits. The final price paid to secure a player through RTM is deducted from the team’s remaining auction purse.
