The 25-year-old leg-spinner made it into the IPL after RCB signed him in the 2023 auction. Himanshu Sharma hasn’t played a single competitive game so far, RCB Identified him through the process of Hinterland Scouting. The 2023 IPL would have been an exceptional exposure for the newcomer. Himanshu Sharma’s learning from Wanindu Hasaranga and the experience from the coaching department will be a boost for him in the 2024 IPL. With the exclusion of Hasaranga, Himanshu Sharma might be a regular for RCB in the upcoming IPL. RCB might look to pair up both the leg spinners, Himanshu Sharma and Karn Sharma in their playing 11s. The 2024 IPL will be a career-defining season for the youngster.
Before the 2023 auction, Himanshu Sharma was invited by the franchise to participate in their camp alongside existing RCB players. At the camp, he was tested by head coach Sanjay Bangar and spin-bowling coach Sridharan Sriram. Later, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for his base price of 20 Lakhs in the 2023 IPL auction. Getting an IPL contract is a dream come true for Himanshu Sharma.
He will look to grab any kind of opportunity he gets in the upcoming season. Himanshu was mostly used as an impact player during his debut season in 2023. However, Himanshu is more likely to be a net bowler this season as he is still a work in progress. And he needs a lot of exposure to competitive cricket to get a chance in the playing XI.
