West Indies will begin their campaign in the T20 World Cup 2026 with the second Match against Scotland in Eden Gardens on February 7. They have not had a great run in recent years across all formats, but always remember they are one of the few teams to have won the T20 World Cup twice. West Indies is the most dangerous team in the T20 format. They has the full capability to defeat the opposition in any condition. Although the West Indies’ performance is as good since becoming champions in 2016. But their fans will be hoping for a better performance this time.
Strength
1. Power-Packed All-rounders
The West Indies all-rounder are known in the cricketing world for excellent performance. All-rounders are also their biggest strength in this T20 World Cup. There is hardly any league in the world where West Indies all-rounders haven’t perform well. Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd, Matthew Forde and Akeal Hosein are all-rounders who can win matches for the team in any difficult situation.
2. Dominating Batting line-up
The West Indies team is one of the teams in the tournament that has the most aggressive batting line-up. The biggest strength of their batting is that it is not dependent on any one player. All the players in their batting lineup are match-winners who has ability to win the match single-handedly. Shai Hope, Johnson Charles and Brandon King will be eager to give West Indies a good start in the top order. At the same time, the responsibility of managing the middle order will be on Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford.

Weakness
1. Inconsistent Performance
The West Indies have often displayed inconsistent batting performance, capable of impressive victories but sudden defeats as well. Their aggressive batting can sometimes lead to carelessness, which lead to defeats as well. In any match, they can score 220 runs, and in the next match, they can be all out for 100 runs. The West Indies have always struggled against a good spin bowling attack, and they may face trouble here again. West Indies generally do not show any consistent performance with bat and ball, which is their biggest weakness.
2. Death Bowling Concerns
Most of the times West Indies’ poor performance of their bowlers in the death overs leads them to lose the game. They do not have many options of specialist bowlers in the death overs. Jason Holder and Jayden Seales can generally handle the death overs for the West Indies. However, Jayden Seales’s lack of experience could hurt them. While Shamar Joseph may also have to face similar problems.
Key Players to Watch Out For

Chance of Winning the Title
The West Indies have a strong squad, including power hitters, all-rounders, and good spin bowlers. Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie are good spin bowlers who can play a crucial role in helping the team win. While they have a talented young player, Quentin Sampson, who has earned his place in the squad by performing well in the domestic circuit. But, considering the disappointing performance in the warm-up games and against South Africa recently, the team’s chances of winning the title become very slim.
Where will they finish?
The West Indies have been drawn into Group C of the T20 World Cup 2026. Their opponents will be Italy, Nepal, Scotland and England. If England is excluded, the remaining opponents lack the experience of international cricket, which the West Indies will certainly want to capitalise on. This increases their chances of reaching the Super Eight stage.
