Sri Lanka put up a brilliant performance and defeated Ireland by a good margin of 20 runs in their first match of the tournament. Lanka, batting first, scored 163 runs, in response to which Ireland were all out after scoring 143 runs. The excellent performance of Sri Lankan bowlers definitely helped the team win. While the hero of the match was Kamindu Mendis, who batted brilliantly.

Sri Lanka started the last match on a slow note with the bat, but Pathum Nissanka tried to steady the team with a 24-run knock. After him, Kusal Mendis smashed 56 runs in 43 balls, while Kamindu Mendis played a brilliant knock of 44 runs in 19 balls, helping Sri Lanka post a total of 163 runs. Kamindu Mendis’s brilliant innings certainly proved to be a match-winning one for the Co-host.

Sri Lanka’s bowling performance was impressive in the last match against Ireland. Maheesh Theekshana bowled brilliantly, taking three wickets for 23 runs in four overs. Oman didn’t get a good start to the T20 World Cup 2026. They lost their last match against Zimbabwe by eight wickets. Oman scored a total of 103 runs while batting first. But due to poor bowling, Zimbabwe chased down the target in just 13.3 overs. Oman definitely lost the last match due to poor batting and bowling performance.

Batting first in the last match, Oman’s top order gave a very disappointing performance as they lost their top five batsmen within 30 runs. However, in the middle order, Vinayak Shukla scored 28 runs in 21 balls, and Sufyan Mahmood made 25 runs in 39 balls, due to which Oman managed to reach a respectable score of 103 runs.

After posting a small total, Oman needed good bowling in the last match and needed to take early wickets, but they failed to do so.
