Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium was known as Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in early days and established in the year 2012 is located at the hotspot of Gahunje, Pune. In 2013, Indian company Sahara India Parivar bought the naming rights of the stadium for Rs.200 crore. As it only paid the part of the total money that was demanded for acquiring the naming rights of the stadium, it is called off and the stadium was called back as Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The end names of this stadium are called as Pavilion end and Hill end.

Seating Chart And Pavilion
The stadium contains main 15 wickets ground, seating capacity of 37000, members pavilion, media stand, 80 corporate hospitality boxes and indoor cricket academy with international accommodation facilities. The stadium was built by the British company, Hopkins Architects at an expenditure of Rs. 1.50 billion, an area covering about 35 acres. The stadium has special construction for managing rainwater drainage system. In general most of the matches are dropped due to heavy pour of rain, to overcome this obstacle the stadium is incorporated with the sand-based outfield. The Sand based system is implemented in MCA stadium with the technical support received from Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI), UK. This makes the stadium to get ready for a match in a few minutes to continue after a heavy shower as the water drains out faster.
History Of MCA Stadium, Pune
MCA stadium is the home ground for Maharashtra Cricket team and to the IPL team – Pune Warriors. MCA serves as the headquarters for Maharashtra Cricket Association. This spectacular stadium with latest amenities was the native Ranji Trophy game witnessed between Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh on 21st December 2011. The first match was inaugurated in April 2012 is IPL match between Pune Warriors and Kings XI Punjab. Still date 9 matches of IPL 2012, 8 matches of IPL 2013, 4 matches of IPL 2015, 4 matches of IPL 2016, 7 matches of IPL 2017 are played in this stadium.
The first Twenty20 International match was witnessed at this stadium on December 2012 between India and England and the next match was played on February 2017 between India and Sri Lanka. The first and only test match happened in this stadium was on February 2017 between India and Australia. The first ODI match was played in this stadium is on October 2013 between India and Australia and the next ODI held on January 2017 between India and England in occasion of England Cricket team’s tour to India.
